AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS
It usually takes between 7-14 days for the skin to heal. For 2x a day for the first 7 days while your skin is healing, the following after-care instructions are recommended:
Step 1 - Gently wash your brows with clean hands, warm water and the soap provided in your after-care kit. Lightly tap soap in brow area and with your fingers, use a swiping motion towards the direction of your hair growth 3-5 times but do not scrub
Step 2 - Lightly pat them dry with a clean paper towel
Step 3 - Apply a thin layer of healing balm with a Q-tip
On the day of your procedure you will complete steps 1 through 3, 3 hours after your appointment ends and right before bed
Starting on day 2, follow steps 1 through 3 morning and night for up to 10 days or as long as they are visibly flaking
Ensure you are blotting your brows with a clean paper towel to remove any lymph (the clear to yellow lymphatic liquid you usually see after popping a pimple) every couple of hours after your procedure for the first 2 days IF you are advised at the end of your appointment that you have excessive lymph. I am always able to tell during your procedure and will let you know. If I don't notice excessive lymph, but you notice lymph on your brows in the first 2 days, always pat dry with a clean paper towel to avoid unnecessary scabbing.
Healing balm can be applied up to 3 times a day
If brows are itchy or irritated, apply your balm to soothe
Flaking/crusting of the skin and scabbing will occur, allow the flaking to naturally fall off and do not pick at your brows
Picking at your brows can cause blurring, scarring and/or infection
Do not touch the treated area until all flaking has cleared, unless it is for cleaning purposes
No soap, moisturizer, makeup or creams on the brows until all flaking has completely fallen off naturally
Stay out of direct sunlight and tanning booths until your brows are fully healed
Wear a hat to shield your brows from the sunlight
Do not get your brows wet for 7-10 days after your procedure (Excessive sweating, pools or hot tubs, sauna, steam shower, ocean, lakes, salt water and extreme sun exposure) Plan your vacations and special events accordingly!
Keep dry in the shower avoid shampoo and conditioner from running down to brows as this will cause color discoloration
No Botox, Fillers, Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peels for at least 2 weeks after the procedure
Must not use Retin-A near the brow area 2 weeks after the procedure
Note: Excessive scabbing is not normal and an indication of heavy lymphatic buildup or not properly following after care steps.
Your skin should be healed by 2 weeks at the latest. The pigment will begin to fade at weeks 2-3 and by weeks 4-6 they will reappear. At weeks 6-8, we can complete your Touch-Up. Please consult with your physician if you have any signs of infections, which could include redness (aside from the first few hours after your appointment) green or yellow discharge and/or fever. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. See below a time line for what to expect:
Day 1 - Your brows are fresh :)
Day 2 to 5 - Your brows may appear darker due to oxidation in the surface layer of your skin. Your brows may appear warmer in color and you may experience some redness or swelling around the treated area. This should last no more than 48 hours.
Day 5 to 7 - Your brows will be flaking/crusting but remember not to pick at them!
Day 7 to 10 - Your flaking has naturally fallen off and your brows are lighter but not to worry, they will be back. During the flaking stage, you may notice some areas may appear lighter than others or may have lost pigment entirely but this is normal. The epidermis layer of your skin is thicker and causes the pigment to hide underneath this layer.
Day 10 to 15 - The pigment will resurface to the skin and you'll start seeing your healed results! If some pigment does not return, this will be addressed at your Initial Touch-Up.
